China’s Internet Users Surpass 500 Million

Reported by OurProperties.com.au 28th Jan 2012

The number of internet users in China reached 513 million as it crossed the half billion mark for the first time in late 2011, according to figures released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).

During the 2010 census, China recorded a total population of 1.33 billion (which many analysts believe would have increased to 1.45 billion by end of 2011), China now has half of its population online. This is a 16% annual increase from 34.3% as of 2010.

55.2% of China’s online population is male.

“With an over-use of mobile phone, where everyone above 18 years of age in China seems to have at least one mobile phone,” says Michael, Chief Executive of OurProperties, “people accessing the internet through their mobile devices increased to 355 million really isn’t a surprise.”

“Most of our new local real estate media partners experience anywhere between 3 million to 8 million monthly unique visitors, so it’s no surprise why we have experienced some very amazing growth in traffic and online activities in the last few months, steadily.” He said.

Both OurProperties.com.au and GiFang.com are looking to triple their current monthly unique visitors of 300,000 in year 2012. This is believed to more than triple the enquiry rate and quality.
